Long Before TV There Was The Golden Age Of Radio

It was a different time.

Long before television, video games and the Internet.

It was a time when people read books, played cards, dominoes and board games.

Families sat down at the same time to eat breakfast and dinner.

Mom usually stayed home while Dad worked until 5 and very few worked on Sundays.

Aside from going to the movies the main form of entertainment was listening to the radio. It was how we got our news, laughed aloud at the great comedians of the day and painfully had to wait until next week to find out how our heroes fared in the latest cliffhanger.

It was compared to today a simpler time except during the dark days of war.

So it is this blog written by a former radio journalist will take an occasional look back at those days of radio.Who and what we listened to, the actors and newscasters and some of the events which had many circling the radio like they were listening to the voice of the Almighty.

Many might argue, this writer included, it was a better time for the family at large.

So it is this blog may end up being as much an educational effort as a social commentary.
